From hobby to passion

The creative journey

Natalie draws inspiration from nature, during daily walks on the Northumbrian beaches and hills. She constantly takes photographs to record the changing light and seasons, which she then replicates in her work. She draws on a wide range of techniques, mixing stitching with silk painting, dyeing, felt work, quilting, and eco printing. Her wide-ranging palette of threads of every type and shade allows her to stitch the minute details that create such fascination in her work.

Bringing art to life

Natalie finds that using textiles provides constant challenges and opportunities. She hopes her artwork evokes a sense of amazement at the detail and recognition of local scenes in viewers. What she enjoys most about being a textile artist is talking to people about her work and process, sharing the stories and inspiration behind each creation.

"The detail in Natalie's work is simply breathtaking."
